About us

SkåtunLyd is a tiny company based near Bergen with a homebuilt soundsystem. Our main focus is sound for electronic music events, but we are flexible regarding events and genre. We don't have that much experience in live mixing for bigger bands, but we are eager to learn.

Founder of Skåtunlyd, Mathias Skåtun started his fascination for sound systems at an early age and has continualy built speakers throughout the years. A fire in 2019 destroyed all of his previous projects, and was the catalyst for wanting to build something bigger and more interesting than conventional designs.

The Paraflex design is what Skåtun Lyd is all about. We build the newest designs, and are constantly improving the designs in collaboration with the Paraflex community world wide. The nature of the Paraflex designs brings a certain colour to the sound and fits bassheavy electronic music, dub, and reaggea quite nicely.

Paraflex design for your setup. We want to be part of a community that shares experience
and expertice freely. It is very important for us to be able to share our passion for DIY and

Passive filters

We create our own passive filters in our HF section. This help save channels on both your DSP and amps. We are on a basic level, but are very interested in learning more on this topic!

cabinets

We build our cabinets with generic tools and skills. Most of our cabinets are made from cheap poppel plywood, but have switched over to baltic birch recently.
The designs are DIY friendly. If we can do it, then you can too!

sourcing components

We can help you source parts for your system. There are components developed specifically for the Paraflex system.
Drivers, amps, horns, phaseplugs, precut cabinets and more. 
We can 3D print parts for you, great results with our 3D printed phaseplugs.
